Ecoglo keeps Cremorne Reserve Bright and Safe

Ecoglo F4-171 stair nosing at Cremorne Reserve

Cremorne reserve is a 100 foot reservation that extends for approximately 3 kilometres around the Cremorne Point Peninsula with numerous access points from surrounding streets. Two ferry wharfs link the Reserve to Circular Quay and other locations on the northern side of the Harbour. With harbourside bushland, formal lawn and garden areas and spectacular views of Sydney Harbour and the city this area is a splendid way to enjoy the water vistas over Shell Cove and Mosman Bay.

Ecoglo F4-171 stair nosing was specified to be used on the stairs leading from road access points to the water’s edge and throughout the loop track, easily identifying step edge contrast and helping people navigate safely up and down steps and over pathways. The F4-171 stair nosing is a 68mm right angled nosing, with a 16mm photoluminescent strip which is visible for many hours having been charged from the sunlight. The aluminium stair nosing also has a 21.3mm hard wearing slip resistant silicon carbide strip. Installation included mechanical fixing and polyurethane glue to the concrete substrate.

As part of the NSW Government’s program to upgrade ferry wharfs across Sydney Harbour, Cremorne Point wharf includes a new steel floating pontoon, a covered concrete fixed entry platform and a covered aluminium gangway connecting the entry platform to the pontoon. Cremorne reserve indeed stretches around the entire shoreline of Cremorne Point.

Ecoglo products enjoy an international reputation of helping people safely negotiate steps and paths, increasing safety and security preparedness with failsafe emergency lighting. Ecoglo products are extremely cost effective as they can be charged by sunlight or by using existing electrical lighting and they do not require ongoing maintenance. Ecoglo’s technology has focused on developing products that have superior durability and predictable visibility through high performance photoluminescent pigment phosphors that absorb light energy and re-emit this as a bright glow in dim or dark conditions.

The steps at Cremorne point now allow for the safe and orderly movement of people (including walkers and joggers) reducing slips, trips and falls.
